Club Ride Out Reports and Photos

Sunday 20th June

Father’s Day so a shortened run for all. Great weather. Good turn out and good craic. Hope you all got home ok – we did on that bald tyre!

Sunday 16th May

Sorry, no photos – forgot my camera.

Quite a few members missing today but we still managed to turn out 10 bikes. Welcome to two new members on their first club ride out, Ian and Debbie and of course Debbie is our first female biker in the club – the first of many we hope. We were also joined by two of Monty Jnr’s friends over from England for the NW200 – brothers Ross and Neil – they were also very welcome.

Unfortunatly, Davy Kwak was unable to make it so yours truly amended his planned route. We rode cross country to Ballynahinch, Downpatrick, Strangford then the coast road for a break at Ardglas. It was here that Debbie had a rear puncture. Ian tried a quick repair with foam but most of it went all over the road rather than in the tyre! We then got a friendly local diver to try and use his air tanks to provide compressed air but that didn’t work. Finally, Ross and Neil came to the rescue with some emergency repair kit they carried. Although gutted to leave the ride out early it was sufficient to get Debbie home safely.

The rest of us continued along the coast road to Tyrella Beach and then into Newcastle for coffee. A good ride into the lower section of the mountains into Hilltown and down into Rostrevor where we stopped for lunch at the cafe in the forest park.

Once again, Monty Jnr proves that he doesn’t listen to instructions. We decided to take the English lads up to Splega Dam. Andy explains to Monty – “Into Killkeel, left at the lights and immediate left again which takes you straight up to Spelga”. Monty Jnr says “Yes I’ve got it.” Four of us duly turn left and left again but not Monty. He decides to ride on to Annalong first and then up to Splega arriving 20 minutes later! Not the first time and I’m sure not the last time Monty will get it wrong!

We then rode back into Hilltown and had a good ride cross country back to Dromore for 5 p.m.. Although we rode only 120 miles or so, we had a good day. A good route with lots of good views along the way. We hope Ross and Neil enjoyed the day and that they got home safely.

Sunday 21 March

A few members were absence for today’s rideout but we still had 11 bikes (14 members) turn out today with The Stig and Paul turning up to wish us a safe day out as they were unavailable.

The Restrictor couldn’t make it – he was on a romantic trip to Dublin. Monty Snr was looking after his grandchidlren. The Hogfather was otherwise engaged. Norman was working. And Garry just has to keep rubbing it in – temperatures in Oz still somewhere in the 30s he says!!

The Stig – “I can’t come out to play but I still want my picture taken”.

Davy organised the route: Banbridge – Armagh – Moy – Cookstown – Magherafelt – Ballymena – Larne – Carrickfergus (and a whole load of other places I had never been to before). Good weather. Another great out day out.

Davy briefing everyone on the route. Jeremy and Stevie have told Davy that the shades stay on – safety briefing or not.

Davy, Sam, Ruth, and Edel took their shades off no problem and are listening intently to Davy W’s briefing.

So, how many soups & bap or bacon baps was it?

Another great club day out with a few laughs along the way. Thanks for organising a great route Davy W.

Good luck to Davy & Edel (or is it Del Girl?) who are going on a 19 day tour to Tunisa and The Sahara next month. We expect some good photos and a little write up for the website.

Stevie – enjoy your skiing trip. The 3rd one this year. What is it you do?

Sunday 7 March

What started out as Jeremy and The Restrictor going out for a quick spin to check The Restrictor’s new Triumph Tiger turned out to be an impromtu club rideout with a dozen so bikes turning up. A good day was had by all with a trip to Kirkistown. The Restrictor tried out his new head cam, and has posted the video on You Tube.

Sunday 17th January

First ride out of the year. Four hardy souls managed to get out for a short run. Some of us had to go to work, some have laid their bikes up for the winter and some had serious hangovers!

Nothing further to report at this time.
