Family BBQ – 15th August

Blues Night – 25th June

Our second annual Blues Night was a great success. Ronnie Greer and his Band were brilliant. A further report will follow at the next club meeting. In the meantime a big thanks to Paul for organising yet another successful event.  And of course thanks to all those who helped on the night.

Paul and Donna sharing a private joke together.

The Hogfather telling others that Ruth wouldn’t last 5 minutes at a Harley event. Notice Ruth lying down in the background.

Ruth – How much did you have to drink? (I said I would get you!).

Edelle is waiting for Davy to get her yet another drink – its only 9 o’clock and its her 10th drink already!

Big Davy M insisted that I only take photographs of him from his good side. Sorry, I couldn’t find it.

Ronnie Greer and his Band – brilliant.

 Eddie and Jackie.

Ian and Debbie – before they started drinking. Couldn’t publish the photos of them later – sorry.

Gina and Kim – these two always get their picture taken.

Davy M and friends – sorry, still couldn’t find the good side.

Paul tell this man “I know its nearly over but you still have to pay”.

Davy and Sam C – they’ve just been discussing a 3 month bike trip away without the wives. Oops! Sorry lads!

The Hogfather and friend. Davy just doesn’t look right without his leather waistcoat.

Guess who? Jim, without the goatee.

 Ah, isn’t that sweet?

Jeff – a Boner and proud of it.

Sam and Donna looking well pleased at the takings for the raffle.

Gina, Edelle and Ruth – starting to get the food sorted.

Jeremy telling Kim, “Look, I’m not going home to put the leather waistcoat on (with tassles). The lads will only rib me about it”.

Andy & Gina’s tour to England and Wales – 28th May – 4th June

Andy and Gina spent a week visiting family in England followed by a 2 day break in Wales. We travelled 1100 miles in total, the weather was great and other than the boring motorways, the roads were good.

We had a great 2 hour run from Stranraer to Gretna, 45 mins on the M6 then another great run across the Yorkshire Dales to Harrogate where we stayed for the night. We then spent 2 days in Hull followed by a long ride down to Hastings on the South Coast for 2 days.

We then had a 300 mile ride to Betwys-y-Coed in Snowdonia. Once we got off the motorway the A5 road into Wales was brilliant, especially once we got into the National Park area. We booked into a nice hotel and spent our last day chilling out. Although we have both climbed Snowdon before, we decided to take the easy route up on our last day – via the narrow gauge train. Unfortunately, the train was fully booked and we weren’t too impressed with the price of £25 each anyway! So, we went to the pub instead!!

On our last day in Wales we spent the morning riding around the mountains before heading to Hollyhead to get the afternoon ferry home. A good week on the bike. I would highly recommend a biking weekend to Snowdonia.

Gina – Pen-y-Pass car park. One of the starting points to walk up Snowdon.

NW200 Fri 14th & Sat 16th May

It was intended for quiet a few of us to meet up on Saturday morning and ride up to the North West for the racing. Unfortunately it didn’t quite happen as planned! Many club members were there for the day but in various groups at different locations around the race track. So apologies to Davy Kwak who had originally organised the day for us.

On Friday afternoon Stevie “Lightweight” text me to say he had managed to get a camping spot so was going up that afternoon. I said I couldn’t go at such short notice. I then get a call from Jeremy to say he was going with Lightweight. I again say I couldn’t go. Ten minutes later I ring them both back to say I would meet them up there later that evening!

We camped at a house right next to the circuit at Mathers Cross, just after the new chicane. Andy pitched his tent after taking it out of its bag for the first time in 20 years. He threw it in the bin the next morning. We all had a fish supper then decided to stay on the camp site rather than bother with the hassle of going into Portrush for the night. We lit the fire in half an oil drum, had a few beers and some more beers and then some vodka – basically a good night’s craic chatting to other jolly campers and listening to rock music all night.

Notice the ‘Hobbit’ in the middle!

Some of us got up bright and early the next morning – no hangovers, fresh coffee and breakfast from the vans in the front garden of the house. Someone got up with a bad hangover, had a bite to eat, then went back to bed – Stevie “Lightweight”.

A few hours later the racing starts and Andy, Jeremy and some of Lightweight’s mates started to watch the racing at a good spot just after the new chicane. Where was Lightweight? He was suffering abdly and found to be sleeping in his mate’s car – and that was him for the rest of the day.

 There’s the Hobbit again.

Lightweight!

A great little overnight trip. We have details of the owner of the site for next year. Lightweight will probably have gotten over his hangover by then!

Westport Sat 24th & Sun 25th April

The Harley Shuffle – Billy Bronco – “I had a wobble” – He’s a giver but not a taker! – all will be revealed!!

Six club members and two guests met bright and early at Dromore Rugby Club to take the trip to Westport. They were: Andy; Paul; Jeremy; Davy W; Stevie; and Sam C. The two guests were: Robert, who travelled over from Ullapool in the Scottish Highlands and his brother Michael who travelled from Bangor. They were both very welcome. The Restrictor or should we just re-name him The Tiger, arrived to take some photos (they and those taken by others will be added to this report once I receive them).

We set off at 9 a.m. and made our way to Enniskillen. As we entered Enniskillen a few of us noticed that Sam C was a bit subdued – he was coming home. Whilst refuelling he could be heard to mutter to himself – “better lambs out here”. It gave Jeremy (or should I say The Wobbler or is it Bronco Billy or is it simply Bronco?) to brush up on his West Country accent. Stevie tried to join in with the accent thing as well, and kept on trying all weekend but failed – he sounded more like someone from India. Anyway, Sam C tells us he knows a great little cafe on the lake. He led us there to find it was closed.

We continued on to Belcoo where we had a 1/2 hour coffee stop and of course a bit of a chat. This is where it all starts. Jeremy really shouldn’t have said anything. He says to Davy Kwak, “Did you see me wobble back there. I don’t know what happend but the bike just did a big wobble. Scared the shite out of me.” Kwak, says “Oh Yes. I was right behind you and laughed my socks off”, (well, something like that). Bronco then continues to regale the wobble to anyone who was bothered to listen where the discussion moved to the merits of that American crap to that Jap crap and of course that great German bike.

Stevie just begged me to take a photo of his new bike.

The next part of the trip saw us riding on great roads over the mountains to Sligo and then on to Castlebar. Nice twisities, dry roads, weather was good and everyone arrived safely at Westport.

We checked into the hotel where Andy made sure he was allocated the best room. Unbeknown to Bronco it had been allocated to him initially. But it was Andy’s party and he wanted the best! Andy wanted to know if anyone wanted to go for a ride out for a couple of hours, maybe Achill Island. Everyone said no chance, lets go for a pint. Robert asked Andy if he wanted to go but Andy said, “Stuff that – lets go for a pint”.

And that was it! Nothing else really to report. We visited a few pubs, had a few beers, went for a bite to eat then back to the pubs again. Oh! There was the odd heated discussion about the merits or not of that American rubbish. The fact that it ‘wobbles’ and bounces along. A few wise cracks about Bronco and his wobbly bike doing the Harely shuffle or was it wobble? And as the night wore on it was clearly obvious to everyone that Bronco was a giver and not a taker.

We ended the night in Matt Molloys. The place was packed, the music was good and of course the craic was non-stop. The wobble jokes were endless!

The next morning found one or two with sore heads! Not Sam though. He was up bright and cheerful, had his breakfast and was found cuddling lambs in a nearby field. A good breakfast then we started for about 11:15 a.m. In fact Robert and Michael  were struggling a bit so they left a bit earlier saying you’ll probably catch us up as we will be crawling along. The rest of us didn’t ride over 60 mph for the first hour or so but we still caught up with the dynamic duo.

An uneventful return journey. Plenty of stops. A few questions to Bronco about looking out for the wobble. Lunch in Enniskillen and then home. A great little weekend was had by all and it would seem this trip may become an annual pilgrimage to Westport for the club.

Club dinner – Friday 5th February

What a great end to our first year as a motorcycle club and of course, a good start to this year. Nineteen regular club members met up at Boyles Restaraunt, Dromore for dinner, drinks and some craic..and what a good night it proved to be.

The meal was excellent, well I certainly haven’t heard any complaints. A lot of alcohol was drunk and there was some great laughs. We finally left the bar at about 1.30 a.m. with nothing further to report.

Jeremy, well done mate. You certainly were on form that night. A great impromptu cabaret act, which left everyone in stitches and of course Ruth was almost wetting herself!!!

Stevie, you are very welcome as a paid up member of the club – after all this time. By the way, fees for next year are due on 1 April, no excuses this time!

Drew, bad news on one hand but good news for you and the family on the other hand. We hope all goes well with everything.

Monty Jnr, you got the lamb gags going and it didn’t stop all night.

Norman, still going strong at 1.30 a.m. and looking for somewhere else to go – home said his brother, Garry.

To you all, thanks.

Jeremy asking Andy, “Know any lamb jokes?” Andy’s a bit upset as he can’t think of any.

Stevie digging at his plate and telling Garry, “This isn’t lamb!”

Sam is thinking he can’t wait to get home as there is lamb for supper. Big Davy, Gary and Monty don’t care as they have just had a big feed.

Davey W looks like the old man from Steptoe & Son and just like him doesn’t really like lamb. Eddie and Jeff are just pleased to be in a photo.

Monty feeling smug about getting the lamb jokes up and running. Drew looking pleased that his hair stayed up ok.

Andy sleeps through the rest of the lamb gags, whilst Sam thinks at least they are not going on about The Stig. Notice The Hogfather in the background, arms folded hiding the tassels he had fixed to his jumper. Jeremy has just told the waiter, “You’re a bit late with the mint sauce mate, we’ve just had pudding.”

Ruth telling Sam, “Don’t worry my little lamb, roast lamb for dinner tomorrow, and Sunday, and…” Monty Snr looking on hoping for an invite.

Sam saying, “No Jeremy. I said to Ruth shoulder of lamb not massage my shoulders my little lamb”.
