Civil Liability Insurance
Individuals have a responsiblity to ensure that their actions do not result in injury or financial loss to others or damage to other’s property. If they do, and negligence is proved, they can become legally liable to pay compensation.
It is of vital importance that all Organisations protect themselves, their officials, employees, instructors, members and voluntary helpers against the potentially disastroous consequences of legal liability for injury or damage arising out of their actions. Individuals could find themselves held personally responsible for court costs and damages awarded, where an action is brought for negligence, and it is essential that adequate Liability insurance should be in place to protect such situations.
In order to meet these demands and fully protect BMF, its Members and Affilitated Clubs, BMF and Perkins Slade have arranged a unique Civil Liability protection, which is an automatic benefit of affiliation to BMF. The arrangements are designed to save both the members and affiliated Clubs the aggravation and cost of having to make their own insurance arrangements.
Civil Liability includes, in a single Policy Wording, Public and Products Liability, Libel and Slander, Professional Idemnity and Directors’ & Officers witha breadth of cover that is not otherwise available through non-specalist Brokers.
Further details of cover provided can be obtained from the Club Chairman or Secretary.
Incident Notification Guidelines
It is important that all incidents that may give rise to a claim are reported to BMF/Perkins Slade as soon as possible after the event. This will enable insurers to carry out investigations at an early stage whilst information relating to the claim remains fresh in the mind. This will also ensure that we are complying with the policy terms and conditions.
In order to achieve this we are asked to notify BMF/Perkins Slade immediately of any incident that involves: fatal accident; injury involving hospital referral/treatment; allegations of libel/slander; allegations of professional negligence, i.e. arising out of tution, coaching or advice given; or damage to third property. This list is not exhaustive and if unsure we will seek advice from BMF/Perkins Slade.
Your are reminded that under NO circumstances are you admit liability or to agree to pay for any damage caused as this may prejudice the position of Insurers and COULD result in the withdrawal of any indemity.
Designated Person
The designated person responsible to record any reportable accident is the Club Chairman. Records will be kept for 3 years. (A new style accident book will be purchased from HSE Books).
